Licenses window

Your storage system arrives from the factory with pre-installed software. If you want to add or remove a software license after you receive the storage system, you can use the Licenses window.

Note: An evaluation license is a temporary license that expires after a certain period of time. System Manager does not monitor evaluation licenses and does not provide any warning when an evaluation license is nearing expiry.

Command buttons

Add

Opens the Add License window, which enables you to add new software licenses.

Delete

Deletes the software license that you select in the software license list.

Refresh

Updates the information in the window.

For storage systems running Data ONTAP 8.1 or a later version in the 8.1 release family, the Licenses window displays the following information:

Name

Displays the name of the license.

Key

Displays the license key of the license installed on your storage system.

Limit

Displays the maximum number of nodes in the cluster.

Expires on

Displays the expiration date for the software license.

For storage systems running Data ONTAP 8.2, the Licenses window displays the following information:

Packages tab

Displays information about the license packages that are installed on your storage system.

Package

Displays the name of the license package.

Licensed

Displays whether you have the privilege to use the license package.

Description

Displays information about the license package—for example, the type of license or whether the license is available on the storage system.

Packages details area

The area below the license packages list displays additional information about the selected license package. The area includes information about the cluster or the node on which the license is installed, the serial number of the license, whether the license is a legacy one, and the expiration date for the license.

The Packages details area is available only for storage systems running Data ONTAP 8.2.

Details tab

Displays additional information about the license packages that are installed on your storage system.

Package

Displays the name of the license package.

Cluster/Node

Displays the cluster or the node on which the license package is installed.

Serial Number

Displays the serial number of the license package installed on the cluster or the node.

Type

Displays the type of the license package, which can be the following:

•	Temporary: Specifies that the license is a temporary license, which is valid only during the demonstration period.

•	Expired: Specifies that the license is an expired license.

•	Master: Specifies that the license is a master license, which is installed on all the nodes in the cluster.

•	Node Locked: Specifies that the license is a node-locked license, which is installed on a single node on the cluster.

Legacy

Displays whether the license is a legacy license.

Expiration Date

Displays the expiration date for the software license package.

The Details tab is available only for storage systems running Data ONTAP 8.2.
